You actually top my list, because I didn't discover The Medicine until 2009. I encourage you to read what I said here: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?¬e_id=2362720615581. John Mark McMillan – The Medicine2. Thad Cockrell – To Be Loved3. Sojourn – Over the Grave4. U2 – No Line On the Horizon5. Jenny & Tyler – This Isn’t a Dream6. http://briterevolution.com7. Bifrost Arts – Salvation Is Created8. David Bazan – Curse Your Branches9. Derek Webb – Stockholm Syndrome
Not as hip or savvy perhaps, but the album of the year for me was Jars of Clay Long Fall Back to Earth. I'm not a huge fan of most of their work, but that album is just amazing.
I would have to agree that all of those albums are some of the best of 2009. I would probably also add Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear, When the Devil's Loose by AA Bondy, and Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective.

Always nice to look back on last year. This is my list. 1. Moss – Never Be Scared / Don't be a Hero (awesome dutch group: http://itunes.apple.com/nl/album/never-be-scared-dont-be-a-hero/id332038008 )2. Passion Pit – Manners3. John Mark McMillan – The Medicine4. Empire of the Sun – Walking on a Dream5. The Derek Trucks Band – Already Free6. John Mayer – Battle Studies7. Bob Dylan – Together Through Life
a lot have already been said. new springsteen, dylan, i know it's comi but i dig the viva la vida, new jason upton was great, i feel in love it john mark this year (sorry took a minute but it was me not you ) i dug most of the u2, daniel lanois red floor sessions have been sweet. matthew perryman jones- swallow the sea, got my first experience of the embers very sweet, tenoutoftenn 09 tour, i should stop now
Not to repeat, I didn't see AFI's Crash Love in anyones list. Say what you will about the nihilistic undertones, but its good music. Also, The Script released a good album. It had a U2-esque universal appeal to it.I think Owl City-Ocean Eyes is also worth mentioning. Pete Yorn-Music for the morning after (I know, its been out awhile, but I finally got around to buying it in 2009… good stuff)As for booty shaking… I hate to admit how rediculously catchy some of Lady Ga-Ga's songs are… I have had some of the most bizzare phrases stuck in my head thanks to her radio hits.
